Brickendon has appointed Hugh Whelan as a Non-Executive Director to provide strategic advice on growing the business.
Hugh’s appointment comes at a time of change at Brickendon, which is currently undergoing a growth plan to strengthen its international foothold. Earlier this year the firm opened an office in New York and now has two executive directors working out of the US.
Hugh, whose main responsibility will be providing strategic advice to Brickendon’s senior management team, has worked in the financial services sector for more than 18 years, holding senior roles at Dresdner Bank, Mizuho, Bayerische Landesbank and Commerzbank. He is currently Head of Liquidity Management for EBS BrokerTec’s relationship-based trading venue, EBS Direct and also sits on the advisory board for tennis software company, TeachTennis International.
Brickendon CEO Chris Burke welcomed the appointment, saying: “Having previously worked with Hugh, I’ve watched his progression with interest.
“His diverse background and range of experience will certainly help us to reach our ambitious goals and growth strategy, as we look to strengthen our presence in the UK and overseas. I’m in no doubt Hugh’s understanding of the finance sector will help drive us to bigger and better horizons.”
Hugh said: “I’ve always been impressed by Brickendon and how it conducts its business. The company is extremely focused and demonstrates a passion to change the industry, drawing on its experience to provide real commercial solutions to businesses.
“This dynamism as well as its ability to adapt to varying client needs has contributed to the business’ rapid growth. I’m really looking forward to working with Brickendon and building the business, making a difference and contributing to the future of the financial services sector.”
